It was an Edmonds kind of Fourth of July.

We had a fabulous Fourth of July this year, reveling in our new hometown! Will and Eric ran in the road race in the morning. Then Will met us at the start of the Children's Parade. So I didn't quite know what to expect from that, but it consist mainly of herds of children and parents meandering their way down the parade route. We were there with Marshall's preschool, the WECP, and I expected that we would stick together neatly behind our cute little banner. But that kind of went out the window the minute the parade started. We still had a great time though!

Several people mentioned that Marshall kind of looked like the emperor who was being toted about by his minions. (Hey, it was a pretty hot day for Seattle, okay? :))
Josie spent most of the parade like this:

Thank goodness our friends, the Evans Family (that's them above in the tie dye...they coordinated), brought their double stroller because the wagon was NOT conducive to napping. When the parade was over, Jo was still sleeping and I tried to convince Gretchen to take Jo home with her. But they already have 4 kids, so she told me I had to keep her. :)
Afterward we went home and barbecued with the Engelbrechts and the Larsens. Nice and low key. Just how we like it! No fireworks for us yet. Mom and Dad didn't even stay up until 10, much less our exhausted kiddies. Maybe next year.....
