Read A Thon Days 5-7

Sorry....there's been a lot of sickness around these parts which has made me just plain tired of being mama at the end of the day.  Thus no blog.

And sadly, the Read A Thon was right during the height of Marshall's sickness, so he was less than interested in doing ANYTHING.  So despite all my bragging, we did not read a gazillion books like I had hoped.

Here's the final groupings:

A Day at the Market by Sara Anderson
To Market, To Market by Anne Miranda (Hilarious)
The Lorax by Dr. Seuss

Which we had to read because we went to the Creation Station to pick up some artsy-fartsy supplies and Marshall decided he needed to make this:
It's a Whisper-Ma-Phone, CLEARLY.....

Then we have the "I've got a little sister and I secretly enjoy all of her books" series:
 Madeline by Ludwig Bemelmans
Fancy Nancy by Jane O'Connor
Fancy Nancy and the Posh Puppy by Jane O'Connor
Elmo Loves You by Sarah Albee

So the funny story about this one is that in Fancy Nancy, Nancy says that her favorite color is fuchsia because that's a fancy word for purple. Well, right after reading this story together at Josie's bedtime, I brought in Marshall's bear straight from the dryer.  Marshall says "Bear is fancy.  He's blue" to which genius Mommy says "We could call him aqua because that's a fancy word for blue."  To which Marshall responds, "Right.  My favorite color is aqua."  Yeah......he's such a rough and tumble little boy.

And now we have the "Make up for the girlie books" series:
The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper
Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel  by Virginia Lee Burton
The Fire Station by Robert Munsch
Margaret and H.A. Rey's Curious George at the Aquarium by R. P. Anderson

Stop the presses.

Baby in a Snuggie

And now we resume.
Our final group of books:
Llama, Llama Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney
Anybody at Home which is actually BY H.A. Rey
Katy and the Big Snow by Virginia Lee Burton
Once again, Albert the Albatross by Syd Hoff
And finally, the book that not only should get the extra 10 cents from Auntie Sarah, but also will be fodder for years of payback now that they have a daughter and I can get her inappropriate books as a present
The Gas We Pass: The Story of Farts by Shinto Cho
which dispenses such sage pieces of advice as "If you try too hard to hold your farts, your stomach may hurt, you could get dizzy, or you could get a headache," and "When you begin to fart after an operation, it means your intestines have started working again."  Sigh.....

So in total we have read 37 books for the Read-A-Thon. Not too shabby.  But next year we are hitting the gazillion mark.  Mark my words.
